EU Car Registrations Hit 4-Month High

Passenger car registrations in the European Union increased 5.8% year-on-year to a four-month high of 916,609 units in October 2025, following a 10.0% rise in September. This marked the fourth consecutive month of growth, with three of the EU’s four largest markets recording gains. Registrations in Spain rose 15.9%, followed by Germany (7.8%) and France (2.9%), while they edged down in Italy (-0.5%). In the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment, registrations surged by 38.6%, driven particularly by jumps in Spain (90.1%), France (63.2%), Germany (47.7%), and the Netherlands (27.4%). For the first ten months of 2025, total EU car registrations grew 1.4% compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, BEV sales rose 16.4% to 1.5 million units, accounting for 16.4% of the EU market.
