The Shanghai Composite rose 0.1% to above 3,990 while the Shenzhen Component gained 0.7% to 13,520 on Wednesday, recouping losses from the previous session s investors awaited the highly anticipated meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. The two leaders are expected to finalize a framework that could halt planned US tariff hikes and China’s rare earth export restrictions. Trump also said he plans to discuss lowering fentanyl-linked tariffs on China and supporting US farmers during Thursday’s talks. In corporate news, Ping An Insurance climbed over 2% after reporting an 11.5% profit increase in the first nine months of the year, driven by stronger investment returns and policy sales. Bank of China shares also advanced to two-month highs after posting a 5% rise in Q3 profit.
